A conversation between two boys on the bus.

Today, Oliver told me, “I bited into a piece of candy and LOOK my tooth just fell out of my head!”

James consoled him saying, “I wouldn’t worry about it. All my teeth fell out too. Sometimes it was one at a time and sometimes a whole group….but they all grow back. Today, you’d never know it happened.”

An e mail from my cousin, the school bus driver.

From time to time I receive e mails from my cousin, Philip, about the children on his bus. I love to read these e mails. When I get them, I am going to add them to this blog site. It seems fitting since it is for and about the children. So here goes the first one:

P.S. I forgot to tell you about a couple of conversations that I had with kids on my bus today. They like to move up front and talk to me. It is interesting how they work out who gets what time. Amazingly I get one on one conversations without any effort on my part.

James talked about invisibility cloaks but finally came to the conclusion that he didn’t want one. “They’d be too hard to keep up with. If you laid it down in the wrong place, how would you ever find it…its invisible.”

When he got off the bus, MacKensie moved up and with no introduction at all said, “I have a doll that you have to change its diapers. Several years ago I put it in a box and now I don’t EVEN want to look in THERE. My Mom bought it so if she had another baby I’d know what to do. That was a huge waste of my time. I have an older brother and I can’t imagine having another one of THOSE! But when I was younger, I thought a sister might be nice. Now that I’m older though, I realize that I’d have to share my room. SO ENOUGH OF THAT!”

I love hearing what they’re thinking about.
